Son of Glasgow refugee Mercy Baguma ‘still asks questions about mummy’ one year on from tragic death

The partner of Glasgow refugee Mercy Baguma has paid tribute on the one-year anniversary of the young mum’s tragic death.

Her tiny son Adriel is feared to have lay for up to five days next to her body at the flat they shared in Govan last year.

The 34-year-old was last seen by partner Eric Nnanna on August 18 as she waved goodbye to him when he left to return to his own flat.

She was discovered dead on August 22 with her then 18-month-old child lying in his cot suffering from malnourishment.

“Adriel still asks questions about his mummy and sometimes gets sad but he’s largely doing okay considering everything that’s happened – he’s healthy, thriving and as a father it’s all I can hope for.

“I would like to thank my friends, family, the community and all the groups and professionals who have supported Adriel and myself over the last 12 months – there are no words to describe the positive impact you’ve had on our lives.
